In preparation for the eventual return to school in the fall, we have recruited adult volunteers who wish to offer their advice and friendship to a student for one hour a week during the school year.<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab\u00a0Mentoring is an important experience that complements academic learning.\u00a0It is people, especially mentors, who will have the greatest impact over the life of a young student.\u00a0You see, learning is most often done by co-existing with others and it is from these people that we learn our most valuable life lessons,\u00a0\u00bb explains Maxime Bergeron Laurencelle, Executive Director at GFGSGM.<\/p>\n<p>Thus, the volunteers sought by our organization are simply people who are willing to share their wisdom and experience for the benefit of the youth of our communities. What can be expected from this experience as a mentor is the supervision and participation in the personal development and spiritual and emotional growth of a youth in need of a friend in a school setting.<\/p>\n<p>So what if you&rsquo;re an adult and you say, \u00ab\u00a0Yes, it&rsquo;s a wonderful opportunity for me\u00a0\u00bb?<\/p>\n<p>Individuals interested in becoming mentors at school can complete the <a href=\"https:\/\/gfgsmtl.qc.ca\/en\/our-cause\/our-programs\/#school\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"color: #2dccd3;\"><strong>online form<\/strong><\/span><\/a> and join the team of mentors who have made a difference in the lives of more than 1,650 young people over the past year.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Our organization dedicated its summer to recruiting adult volunteers who want to give their time to make a difference in the lives of young students.
