Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Montreal promises to act with respect and in a spirit of hospitality, helpfulness, and inclusivity.<\/span><\/p>\n

Just like the families and youths enrolled in our programs, our volunteers come from all walks of life, age, professional backgrounds, ethnic origins, gender identity and sexual orientations (2SLGBTQIA+).<\/span><\/p>\n

The agency staff strives to promote positive relationships and supports the involvement of everyone in the community.<\/span><\/p>\n

Indigenous Mentoring - for Indigenous Youth<\/h4><\/div>

The Indigenous Mentoring stream supports matches between an adult mentor (Indigenous or non-Indigenous) and Indigenous youth who are in need of a meaningful presence in their lives. The goal is to foster the youth\u2019s positive development in a culturally affirming context and to help prevent at-risk behaviors.<\/p>\n

This program is part of our three main services: In-School Mentoring<\/a><\/span>, Community-Based Mentoring<\/a><\/span>, <\/strong>and 16|21 Mentoring<\/a><\/span>.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div> <\/div> <\/div>

2SLGBTQIA+ Mentoring - for youth who identifies with the 2SLGBTQIA+ community<\/h4><\/div>
\n

2SLGBTQIA+ Mentorship<\/strong> pairs a young person aged 6 to 21 with a mentor, with both belonging to 2SLGBTQIA+ communities.
The goal of this program is to offer a mentor who identifies as part of the 2SLGBTQIA+ communities to a young person who is questioning or who identifies within those same communities, in order to create a friendship bond and provide guidance as a positive role model.<\/p>\n

This program is part of our three main services: In-School Mentoring<\/a>, Community-Based Mentoring<\/a>, and 16|21 Mentoring<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The program was created in collaboration with GRIS – Montr\u00e9al<\/a>, L’Asterisk<\/a>, Interligne<\/a> and the LGBT Family Coalition<\/a>, and with the financial support of the Ministry of Justice of Quebec as part of their program Fight against Homophobia and Transphobia<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div> <\/div> <\/div>

Mentoring for Youth with Disabilities<\/h4><\/div>
This mentoring stream is designed for young people aged 6 to 21 living with a disability. The match with a mentor provides personalized support that takes into account each young person\u2019s unique needs. The goal is to foster their social inclusion, strengthen their self-esteem, and help them develop essential skills for personal and academic growth.<\/p>\n

BlacK'N Role - For Black Communities<\/h4><\/div>

The \u201cBlack \u2019n Role\u201d<\/strong> stream aims to match a young person from a Black community with a mentor from that same community, with the mentor serving as a positive adult role model. The goal of the program is to help mentees aged 6 to 12 develop their social and personal skills, while fostering their education and community involvement.<\/p>\n

This program is part of our three main services: In-School Mentoring<\/a>, Community-Based Mentoring<\/a>, <\/strong>and 16|21 Mentoring<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

In the past year, nearly 200 youth through individual activities and 30 youth in matches have benefited from this program.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div> <\/div> <\/div>
